High Poker Film “Molly’s Game” Expected in Cinema by Summer 2017
The hotly anticipated, Aaron Sorkin scripted and directed film detailing the infamous Hollywood high stakes poker games in real money casino featured in Poker Princess Molly Bloom’s memoirs has entered the post production stage and could released as early as this summer.
Film is based on Bloom’s self-penned book “Molly’s Game: High Stakes, Hollywood’s Elite, Hotshot Bankers, My Life in the World of Underground Poker.” The book chronicles the former Olympic skiing hopeful’s move from Colorado to Los Angeles, and her participation in the illegal games that attracted not only A-list actors, but also wealthy businessmen and athletes.
Sorkin’s script focuses on the relationships in her life. Chastain plays the lead and will delve into how others impacted her journey, such as her father. One of the subplots is between Michael Cera’s character and the Oscar-nominated actress. He depicts a player who strikes up an unusual and touching relationship with the Poker Princess.
Bloom became famous in Hollywood as the VIP poker hostess and organiser of illegal high stakes games for her celebrity clientele. She is a young skier and former Olympic hopeful becomes a successful entrepreneur (and a target of an FBI investigation) when she establishes a high-stakes, international poker game.
Bloom was eventually arrested by the FBI and despite pleading not guilty, she later changed her plea to guilty for which she received a fine of a $125,000 plus a sentence of twelve months community service.
The film boasts a strong cast that includes Idris Elba, Chris O’Dowd, Michael Cera and Kevin Costner plus Jessica Chastain who plays the title role.
